February is Black History Month. It’s a great time to celebrate the rich history of the many diverse people living in our country. This month, you will read about people with African heritage. You will discover the impact they have had on the history, culture, geography, and economics of different regions. You can learn about a new person, a new place, or even a new food! An obstacle is anything that stands in your way. Some obstacles are created by the opinions or beliefs of ourselves or others. Some exist because of where we live. How do sports affect our lives?

Fall is a busy time for sports in the United States. Communities all over the country are cheering for their favorite teams. The World Series just decided the champions of baseball, the St. Louis Cardinals. For some sports, like football, teams are about halfway through their seasons. In others, like soccer, fans and players are preparing for play-offs and the championship game. And, while the season should be starting in the NBA (National Basketball Association) people are unsure if the teams will play at all!
