The Essential Question Is...

What role does the environment play in your daily choices?

Making Green by Being Green

Does your school have fundraisers? Fundraisers are a great way for schools to make money for fun programs like field trips. Many schools sell items like candy bars, wrapping paper, or cookie dough. Some schools have car washes or carnivals. From packaging to water and energy use, all of these things have an impact on the environment. Wouldn’t it be great to make green and be green at the same time?

Schools around the United States have found ways to raise money while raising awareness for the environment. Schools are now choosing to sell more environmentally-friendly products. There are many green products available from fundraising companies including natural cleaning products, lotions, reusable shopping bags and water bottles, and even recycled lunch boxes!

Schools are also choosing to create their own green-fundraising products. Some schools grow vegetables to sell at local markets. Others sell native plant seedlings. Students can collect recyclable products like cell phones and computers. When the products are recycled, the school makes money from the reusable parts.

There are many resources available to help you start green fundraising at your school. Help your school and your planet. Check out green products for your school’s next fundraiser!
