Field Trip

California Standard 6.6 Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the early civilizations of China.

You don't have to travel all 4,000 miles of the Great Wall of China to see why it is considered one of the wonders of the world. Instead, you can visit a place called Simatai, which is just a few hours from Beijing, the capital of China. Visitors to this 6-mile length of the Great Wall can see most of the features of the entire wall.

Heavenly Ladder and Sky Bridge

The Sky Bridge is long and narrow—less than two feet wide at some places and the Heavenly Ladder is so steep that some climbers crawl up it.

Beacon Towers

Guards in the beacon towers use smoke signals or shots to relay alarms to places far away.

Mandarin Duck Springs

The water in one part of the lake is hot and in the other part it is cold because two springs have water from different sources.
