Make a Symbol Mobile

   California Standard 1.3 Students know and understand the symbols, icons, and traditions of the United States that provide continuity and a sense of community across time.

Materials: Crayon or markers, pen or pencil, printout of world map

 

1. Check the Web site to find different types of mobiles you can make.

 
 

2. Choose a mobile to make. Look at the way it is put together.

 
 

3 Use materials found around the house, like egg cartons, cardboard, paper, boxes, string, crayons, paint, and glue to make your mobile.

 
 

4. Decide on symbols you want to add to your mobile.

 
 

5. Attach your symbols with string or yarn.

 
 

6. Hang your mobile for your classmates to see.
