Day In The Life

A Schoolboy Long Ago

California Standard 1.1 Students describe the rights and individual responsibilities of citizenship.

In the 1800s, parents taught their children to read. Once they knew how to read, they could read school books. The colonies in New England set up schools which taught boys. Girls were taught to read, but they weren't allowed to go to school.
