Research the course and consequences of the American Revolution. Here are some questions to guide your research.
  • What were the major battles of the American Revolution?
  • Who were the main leaders on the American and British sides? What key decisions did they make? How did these decisions affect the course of the war?
  • When was the Declaration of Independence written? Why was it written? What was the outcome of its being written?
To begin, visit the Internet sites listed in Step 2. You may also choose to visit a library, read a book on the subject or interview an adult. Then follow Step 3 to write your report.

Find out where and when the major battles of the Revolutionary War took place. Learn who the key leaders were on the American and British side. What choices did they make? How did their decisions affect the outcome of the war?

Read about the Revolutionary War from someone who was at the center of the action. George Washington wrote thousands of letters during his lifetime. He wrote all sorts of letters throughout the Revolutionary War. Search the site for letters written during the war. Read a few of them and take notes about what you learn.

Many people believe that the Declaration of Independence was written at the very beginning of the Revolutionary War. Find out when the Declaration of Independence was actually written. How long had the war been raging when the Declaration of Independence was written? Who wrote it? Why was it written? What was the outcome of the writing and publication of the Declaration of Independence?
