World Connection: Canada

Step 1. Questions

Did you know that Canada has two official languages: English and French? Stop signs say both “Stop” and “Arret”.

Travel north from the United States, and you will reach Canada. The United States and Canada share the world’s longest peaceful border. Every day, people from the two countries trade goods and services, and they share thoughts and ideas.

Like the United States, Canada is a beautiful land with many different features. Canada has tall mountains, wide prairies, rugged beaches, and busy cities. Canada is also home to many people from many backgrounds.

Here are some questions about Canada for you to research.
  • Canada is divided into regions called provinces. Find three of these provinces on a map. Where are they located?

  • What Native Americans live in Canada? What is their culture like?

  • What is the International Peace Garden? Where can you find it?

  • What other questions do you have about Canada?
Visit the following Web sites. You may also find information about Canada at your local library.
