About the Site
As children read about mammals, show them this Web site that features 41 photographs of baby and adult animals. You may want to preview the site to select photographs. When you click a photograph, an enlarged version shows in a new window. Close the window to return to the array of small photos. Note that when you enlarge a photo, you can see the copyright information in the background. This cannot be avoided. What to Do
Invite children to view the photograph gallery.
Ask them to click and enlarge the photographs you have selected.
You may wish to have volunteers choose their favorites to enlarge and show in more detail.
Have children identify at least one mammal.
Ask if they can find an animal that is not a mammal.

About the Site
This Web site from Smithsonian Institution's National Zoo in Washington, D. C. features 99 photographs of animals. The opening picture page lists animal names and captions that describe each picture. To show children specific pictures of mammals and their young, you will have to help them find the animal name and then click the name of the photograph.
What to Do
Guide children to find animal names and click the photo description to see one or more of the photographs listed below.
A new browser window will show the animal and some information about it in a bottom frame.
Tell children to click the picture to see a closeup.
Tell children something about the animal. You can read aloud details about the photograph in the bottom frame.
Then show children how to close the window to go back to the list of animal pictures.
