Avoid Public Power Struggles
When a student outburst occurs, diffuse the situation as calmly and quickly as possible and delay any further discussion of it until a later time when the class is either not in session or busy with a task. If this does not work, call or send for the vice principal immediately. When the whole class acts inappropriately, stay calm, try to disarm them with a little humor, and move on. And remember, don't sweat the small stuff.
